About LibraryDive
Libraries are under attack. Funding is being cut. Books are being pulled from shelves. Academic accreditation is being used as a political weapon. And the people who run and depend on libraries -- librarians, administrators, advocates, trustees -- often don’t have the intelligence they need to fight back effectively.
LibraryDive exists to change that.
This is a newsletter for people who work in, advocate for, and care about libraries, those on our local Main Streets and the academic libraries at our colleges and universities. It covers federal and state policy, funding battles, book ban campaigns, accreditation fights, and the politics behind all of it. It is written by someone who has worked for the White House, on Capitol Hill, and in the private sector -- and who brings that experience to bear on what’s happening to libraries right now.
The goal is simple: give you the information, analysis, and strategic guidance you need to understand what’s happening, why it matters, and what to do about it.
LibraryDive is written by Brian Farber, President and Founder of Monument Square Strategies, a strategic communications and public affairs consultancy. Brian has spent his career at the intersection of policy, politics, and communications -- and he believes academic and public libraries are the proverbial canary in the coal mine, deserving more attention and support.
